Monkey Bee Short Film

A live action short film for Monkey Bee - the first single from Journey to the West

Created and directed by Jamie Hewlett, Monkey Bee is a mixture of Chinese 1970's spaghetti western, meets Korean horror movie, meets much beloved 1980's Monkey tv series...

Fans of Hewlett's numerous Gorillaz videos should enjoy his first live action outing. Conjuring up images of legendary battles and adversity, we find Monkey trying to cross the volcano fields of Princess Iron Fan. Monkey needs her magic fan in order to cool the hot molten fields but the Princess refuses and an epic battle ensues, throwing first trained assassins and then a colossal army of volcano soldiers his way in a desperate attempt to thwart his journey.

The film was shot in London on 35mm film, using members of the Journey to the West cast. A team of modellers, animators, compositors and vfx artists have since worked for 8 weeks to put all the live action and special effects together and deliver the first Monkey film.

Payable on Death

P.O.D., initials standing for Payable On Death, is a rock band from San Diego, California. Formed in 1992, the band's line-up consists of vocalist Sonny Sandoval, drummer Wuv Bernardo, guitarist Marcos Curiel, and bassist Traa Daniels.

With their third studio album, The Fundamental Elements of Southtown, they achieved their initial mainstream success; the album was certified Platinum by the RIAA in 2000.Their following studio album, Satellite, continued the band's success with the hit singles, "Alive" and "Youth of the Nation", pushing it to go 3x platinum.

When Angels & Serpents Dance is the seventh studio album by P.O.D.. This is the first album to include Marcos Curiel since his departure from the group and first to be released by Columbia Records. It also includes Mike Muir from Suicidal Tendencies, Helmet guitarist Page Hamilton, guest Gospel Choir, and the Marley Sisters. The album debuted at number 9 on the Billboard 200, selling over 34,000 copies in its first week and peaked at the number 1 selling rock album on iTunes. Nitin Sawhney: London Underground

Cooking Vinyl has put up a gallery for Nitin Sawhney's upcoming album titled London Underground which will be released next month.

The artwork is by the renowned artist Antony Gormley. Gallery contains tracks of Antony and Nitin talking about the images you selected. Check out the gallery here.

London Underground will be released on 13th October in all good record stores!

The Rapture new release:

“Tapes” is a treasure trove of rare grooves and cult classics spanning three decades, from the late 1970s to 2008. One key thread running through the mix is the evergreen sound of the New York underground, epitomised by classic tunes like Vaughan Mason & Crew’s 1980 disco-rap milestone “Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll” and the irresistible beat-pop ditty “I’m An Indian Too”, recorded in 1979 by East Harlem’s Don Armando and his Second Avenue Rumba Band. But NYC’s latest clubland stars also make their mark, from neo-disco supergroup Arcade Lover to hip-hop DJ Frog’s dazzling robo-funk alter ego, Dances With White Girls.

“Tapes” features an elite selection of European talents too, from the cult 1970s French disco pioneers Martin Circus to modern-day Parisian DJ royalty, including Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangaltar and fellow French deep-house icon Kiloo. Meanwhile, the Swedish duo Donk Boys deliver mashed-up sci-fi electronica, Germany’s Alter Ego revive the spirit of classic acid-house, and Belgium’s Kid Crème transform the 1970s trash-TV show “The Six Million Dollar Man” into a muscular techno stomp. Smart, funny and funky.

But alongside tracks by A-list DJ Armand Van Helden and hip-hop superstar Ghostface Killah, “Tapes” contains cutting-edge electronica from the rising stars of today and tomorrow. South Africa’s DJ Mujava and UK-based Maurice Fulton’s Syclops project provide two of the album’s most left-field, progressive tunes.
